Philosophy
Gulliver Schools’ libraries are dedicated to providing an environment that fosters learning, promotes information literacy, and encourages a lifelong love of reading and learning. The schools’ Libraries/Media Centers play an integral role in educating students for the challenges of a rapidly changing, information-saturated world. All campuses have access to a multidimensional, service-oriented Media Center that offers students and faculty many and varied services.
In this setting, the school library media specialist’s role is to integrate information literacy, research, and inquiry into all areas of the curriculum and to serve as a teacher, technology leader, information specialist, and instructional consultant who is totally involved in the teaching/learning process.
Mission
The Gulliver Schools library program commits to supporting the information needs of all stakeholders. Its purpose is to provide students and teachers with access to information through its collection of resources in print, non-print, and electronic formats.
The library’s mission is to create discerning consumers and producers of information. The library also strives to encourage a love of reading, lifelong inquiry, and learning.
